Broadway Lofts is located at 159 W on Broadway (300 S) and is one of the few true warehouse-to-loft developments in downtown Salt Lake City. The large 109,000 sq. ft. building was originally constructed in 1901 as the J.G. McDonald Chocolate Company. A conversion of the warehouse to higher-end loft-style condos began in 1997 and was completed in 1999. The first floor of the building houses commercial space up front, and several live/work lofts towards the rear. These live/work lofts each have a private, ground-level entrance, and a private, outdoor patio. Floors 2-5 consist of traditional lofts with 18-foot ceilings, brick exterior walls, hardwood floors, warehouse windows, and exposed electrical and ductwork. The sixth floor was added to the building during its renovation. These penthouse-level condos have a shorter ceiling height than the lower units and each has a private deck with incredible views of Salt Lake City and the valley. The typical Broadway loft has a distinct, open interior anchored by a colorful, Boffi Italian kitchen and a huge stainless steel hood suspended above a floating island. Sliding barn doors separate the living spaces from the oversized bathrooms. Each loft includes parking in the garage/carport area to the west of the building.
